Our main objective is to pay the pensions that have been promised to our members when they fall due. In achieving this objective, it is important that we invest in companies that behave responsibly.
Companies that behave irresponsibly risk reputational damage, consumer activism and regulatory and legal action. These issues can impact on their profitability and so, ultimately, on our Fund’s financial health. Through responsible investment, we aim to reduce the financial risk to our Fund by ensuring that the organisations in which we invest behave appropriately. This is a recognition that the long-term health of society, the planet and the market are all connected.
